What this 16Kbit I²C EEPROM brings to the BOM
The STMicroelectronics M24C16-FMC6TG is a 16Kbit serial EEPROM organized as 2K x 8 bits, communicating over an I²C bus at up to 400 kHz. It stores configuration data, calibration constants, or firmware parameters that need non-volatile retention across power cycles.
At the other end, 5.5V tolerance means it can coexist with legacy 5V logic without a level translator. The 400 kHz I²C clock delivers a raw throughput of about 50 kbytes/s for sequential reads, which is adequate for most parameter-storage and boot-loader tasks. The 900 ns access time is the random-read cycle time — sequential reads run at the bus clock rate after the first byte.
Package and mounting — the UFDFN footprint
The 8-UFDFN exposed-pad package (2x3 mm body) is a compact, surface-mount option for space-constrained PCBs. The supplier device package is 8-UFDFPN (2x3), so the land pattern matches industry-standard DFN footprints.
