16-Kbit I²C EEPROM for parameter storage
The STMicroelectronics M24C16-FDW6TP is a 16-Kbit serial EEPROM organized as 2K x 8 bits, accessed over an I²C bus running at up to 400 kHz. It stores calibration constants, configuration tables, and device identity data that must survive power cycles.
Write timing and endurance
Page-write cycle time is 5 ms, typical for this density. The 900 ns access time is the I²C bus timing parameter — at 400 kHz the bus period is 2.5 µs, so the EEPROM's internal access is not the bottleneck. For firmware updates that rewrite many pages, budget 5 ms per page plus I²C addressing overhead.
ST lists the M24C16-FDW6TP as Active.
Sourcing and second-source options
A functional second source exists in the M24C16-FMH6TG, which shares the same 16-Kbit I²C EEPROM die and all parametric ratings; the difference is the reel option (Digi-Reel® vs standard Tape & Reel). For dual-sourcing resilience, the M24C16-FMH6TG is a drop-in alternate.
