8 Kbit I²C EEPROM for configuration storage
The STMicroelectronics M24C08-FDW6TP is an 8Kbit serial EEPROM with an I²C interface, organized as 1K x 8 bits. The 5 ms write cycle time per word or page means the host can poll the acknowledge after each write; no extra timing loops needed if the I²C master handles the polling. It is housed in an 8-TSSOP package (4.40 mm wide body), surface-mount only.
The 1.7 V minimum supply means this EEPROM works directly on a 1.7 V rail and still runs at full 400 kHz. At the other end, 5.5 V covers 5 V legacy buses.
For a new design this means standard lead times through distribution and no forced redesign cycle from obsolescence.
Package and rework: 8-TSSOP with a hot-air station
The 8-TSSOP package is a small-outline gull-wing leaded part. It reflows cleanly with a standard profile and is hand-reworkable with hot air if the pad layout has adequate thermal relief — the leads are visible for alignment, and the body is small enough that a focused nozzle lifts it without heating adjacent parts.
