Automotive-grade 8 Kbit EEPROM for parameter storage
The STMicroelectronics M24C08-DRDW3TP/K is an 8 Kbit serial EEPROM organized as 1K x 8 bits, accessed over an I²C bus at clock frequencies up to 1 MHz. It is part of the Automotive, AEC-Q100 series, qualified for use in automotive electronic systems. Typical applications include storing calibration constants, vehicle identification numbers (VIN), configuration parameters, and diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) in engine control units (ECUs), transmission controllers, and body electronics modules.

I²C bus timing and write-cycle budget
The I²C interface supports clock frequencies up to 1 MHz, which is Fast-mode Plus. The 450 ns access time is the random-read cycle time from the last address byte to the first data byte on the bus. The write cycle time for a word or page is 4 ms — this is the time the device is busy after a write command and will not acknowledge new I²C start conditions. For a 1 K x 8 organization, a page write typically programs 16 bytes at once, so storing a 128-byte calibration block takes about 32 ms of bus time. Budget this into the ECU's non-volatile write routine, especially during key-off writes where the supply rail may be dropping.
Package and footprint — 8-TSSOP
The device is supplied in an 8-TSSOP package with a 4.40 mm body width and 0.65 mm lead pitch. It is a surface-mount package suitable for reflow soldering. For PCB layout, the footprint matches the standard JEDEC MO-153 variation for 8-pin TSSOP.
