Automotive-grade 2Kbit EEPROM for harsh environments
The STMicroelectronics M24C02-DRDW3TP/K is a 2Kbit serial I²C EEPROM from the Automotive, AEC-Q100 series, qualified for use in under-hood, transmission, and chassis-domain electronics where the ambient temperature can hit 125°C. It stores calibration data, VIN codes, or fault logs in a 256 x 8 memory array and talks over the I²C bus at up to 1 MHz, with a 450 ns access time that keeps the bus turnaround tight.
The M24C02-DRDW3TP/K runs on a supply from 1.8V to 5.5V, so it works with both legacy 5V microcontrollers and modern 3.3V or 1.8V cores without a level shifter on the bus. At 1 MHz the I²C clock is fast enough for high-throughput parameter logging; the 450 ns access time means the first data byte appears on the bus within one clock cycle after the address, which helps keep the read cycle short in a time-critical loop.
The ROHS3 compliance is confirmed, and the AEC-Q100 qualification means each wafer lot is tested to automotive-grade reliability standards.
8-TSSOP package — fits a tight board
It is a common package for serial EEPROMs, so the PCB layout is straightforward and the part can be swapped on a rework station without a hot-air nozzle if the board has a standard soldering iron profile.
