Single comparator in a small footprint

The LMV331ICT is a single-element general-purpose comparator from STMicroelectronics, housed in a 5-pin SC-70-5 package. It's the smallest footprint in the LMV33x family, which also includes dual (LMV393) and quad (LMV339) variants — but the single channel here saves board space when you only need one threshold detector. The open-drain output lets you pull up to any voltage within the supply range, making it straightforward to interface with logic families running at different levels — 3.3V or 5V MCU inputs, for example.

550ns propagation delay — what that means for your loop

That's fast enough for overcurrent detection in a switching regulator loop or for zero-crossing detection at line frequencies, but it won't keep up with high-speed PWM cycles above a few hundred kilohertz — the output will lag the crossing by a full cycle or more. The input offset voltage is specified at 7mV max at 5V — this sets the practical threshold accuracy floor.
