Dual comparator rated for the engine bay
The STMicroelectronics LM2903HYPT is a dual general-purpose comparator in an 8-TSSOP package, built for automotive environments where the temperature swings wide and the supply rail is noisy. Its -40°C to 150°C operating range and AEC-Q100 qualification mean this part is specified for under-hood, transmission, and engine-control modules — not just cabin electronics. The open-collector output with rail-to-rail input common-mode range lets it interface directly with 3.3V or 5V logic while the supply runs off a 12V or 24V battery line.
The 2V to 36V single-supply range (or ±1V to ±18V split) covers automotive 12V and 24V systems directly, eliminating a preregulator for the comparator section. Maximum input offset voltage is 7mV at 30V — not the tightest in the comparator family, but adequate for threshold detection, overvoltage/undervoltage lockout, and zero-crossing sensing where a few millivolts of trip-point uncertainty is budgeted in the resistor divider. Quiescent current maxes at 2.5mA per package (both comparators), which keeps the thermal load low in the TSSOP footprint even at 150°C junction.
