Dual comparator rated for 150°C ambient
The STMicroelectronics LM2903HD is a dual general-purpose comparator in an 8-SOIC package. It operates from a single 2V to 36V supply or dual ±1V to ±18V rails, making it compatible with common 3.3V, 5V, 12V, and 24V system buses without a secondary regulator. The -40°C to 150°C temperature range places this part in the automotive-underhood and industrial high-temperature class — suitable for engine bay electronics, exhaust sensing, and motor-drive feedback where standard 85°C or 105°C parts would derate or fail.
Output drive and input characteristics
Each comparator can sink 16mA typical at 5V supply through the open-collector output, which interfaces directly with CMOS, TTL, DTL, ECL, or MOS logic families without a level translator. The 0.25µA maximum input bias current at 5V preserves accuracy when sensing high-impedance sources like thermistors, photodiodes, or current-shunt amplifiers. Maximum input offset voltage is 7mV at 30V supply. For a 5V rail with a 1V reference threshold, this contributes roughly 0.7% uncertainty — acceptable for overvoltage/undervoltage detection and window comparators, but not for precision zero-crossing or low-side current sensing below 10mV. Quiescent current is capped at 2.5mA for both comparators combined, which keeps the thermal load low in the 8-SOIC package even at 150°C ambient.
This is a last-time-buy / surplus sourcing scenario — no factory lead time applies.
