Protection features and ripple rejection
Built-in over-temperature shutdown and short-circuit protection are standard for the 78xx family. PSRR is 62 dB at 120 Hz — adequate for smoothing full-wave-rectified mains ripple in a linear supply, but not a high-PSRR LDO for noise-sensitive analog rails.
