Fault protection set covers the common failure modes
The IPS161HTR integrates current limiting (fixed threshold), open-load detection, over-temperature shutdown, and under-voltage lockout (UVLO). No external sense resistor or comparator is needed for the open-load detect — the switch reports a fault condition when the load current drops below the detection threshold. The UVLO holds the output off when the supply rail droops, preventing the MOSFET from operating in the linear region.
The device is housed in a 12-lead PowerSSO-12 package with an exposed pad, 3.90 mm width. Surface-mount assembly; the pad pattern matches a standard SO-8 footprint with an extended thermal land.
