Single-channel high-side switch for industrial loads
The IPS1025HTR-32 is a single-channel high-side switch from STMicroelectronics, rated for 5A continuous output and a supply range of 8V to 60V. Typical Rds(on) is 12 mOhm, but that figure is measured at 25°C — at a 125°C junction temperature you can expect it to roughly double, so budget the thermal margin accordingly. Built-in fault protection covers current limiting (adjustable), open load detection, over-temperature shutdown, reverse current blocking, and undervoltage lockout. That set of protections means the switch can handle a shorted load or a stalled motor without external supervision — the device self-limits and latches off if the die temperature exceeds the threshold.
Thermal and package considerations for the layout
The logic-level input is non-inverting and compatible with 3.3V or 5V MCU outputs — no level shifter needed.
