What the 150 W pulse rating means for the BOM
The 150 W peak pulse power (8/20 µs waveform assumed, as is standard for this device class) tells you how much transient energy each channel can absorb before the junction gives way. For a typical ESD event at ±8 kV contact discharge, that margin is comfortable — the part clips the spike without latching or degrading. What matters for the BOM line is that four independent protection paths share one tiny footprint, so you protect four separate traces (say, a USB D+/D− pair plus two GPIOs) with a single component instead of four discretes. That shrinks the placement cost and board area.
That qualifies it for outdoor telecom gear, engine-bay electronics, factory-floor sensors — any environment where the board sees thermal cycling and the protection diode needs to stay within spec across the range. The SOT-323-5 body is small enough for space-constrained designs but still hand-solderable for rework.
