Five-channel ESD clamp in a small SOT-323-6L
The STMicroelectronics ESDA6V1-5W6 is a Zener diode array from the ESDA, TRANSIL™ series designed for general-purpose ESD protection. It packs five unidirectional channels into a SOT-323-6L surface-mount package, each channel rated for 100W peak pulse power.
100W peak pulse — sizing the clamp for the bus
The 100W peak pulse power rating (8/20 µs waveform) defines how much surge energy each channel can shunt without failing. For a 3V signal rail, the 6.1V breakdown ensures the clamp activates well below the absolute maximum of downstream 3.3V logic. The 5-channel density in a single SOT-323-6L footprint saves board area compared to five discrete Zener diodes, though the per-channel power limit means a higher-energy transient (e.g., direct lightning surge on an external cable) would need a TVS with a larger junction.
That removes the urgency to stockpile or qualify a substitute for ongoing builds. For dual-sourcing or second-source planning, the TRANSIL™ family includes functionally similar multi-channel arrays; pin compatibility should be verified against the target footprint.
