Five-channel ESD clamp in a small SOT footprint
The STMicroelectronics ESDA6V1-5P6 is a five-channel unidirectional Zener-based ESD protection array from the ESDA and TRANSIL™ series. It packs five protection diodes into a single SOT-563 or SOT-666 surface-mount package, with each channel rated for a peak pulse power of 150W. The reverse standoff voltage is 3V, and the minimum breakdown voltage is 6.1V, making it suitable for clamping transients on 3.3V or lower-voltage signal and power lines in general-purpose equipment.
The 150W peak pulse power rating (per IEC 61000-4-5, typically an 8/20 µs waveform) tells you how much surge energy each channel can absorb before the junction fails. For a 3V working rail, that translates to a clamp current of several amps during a transient event — enough to protect CMOS logic, I/O lines, or power inputs from ESD strikes and small inductive spikes. The device does not include power line protection (no crowbar or overvoltage latch), so it is intended for signal and low-power rail clamping, not mains or high-energy surge suppression.
Package options and mounting
Both are small, leadless surface-mount packages with five I/O channels plus a common ground. The SOT-666IP variant includes an exposed pad for improved thermal transfer during repetitive clamping events.
