Snubberless™ triac — 25 A RMS, 600 V blocking, TO-220
The STMicroelectronics BTB24-600BWRG is a 25 A RMS, 600 V off-state Snubberless™ alternistor triac in a TO-220-3 through-hole package. The Snubberless™ construction provides high dv/dt immunity without an external RC snubber, which simplifies the PCB layout and reduces component count on inductive-load switching circuits like motor starters, solid-state relays, and industrial heater controls.
Gate drive and trigger thresholds
Maximum gate trigger current (Igt) is 50 mA, with a maximum gate trigger voltage (Vgt) of 1.3 V. The 75 mA maximum holding current (Ih) ensures the triac latches on once triggered and stays conducting until the load current drops below that threshold — relevant for low-current loads where the holding current may not be reached, causing the device to drop out mid-cycle.
Surge capability and thermal design
Non-repetitive surge current (Itsm) is rated at 250 A at 50 Hz and 260 A at 60 Hz. This surge rating covers inrush from incandescent lamp loads, motor start-up, or capacitor charging.
It is ROHS3 compliant.
