Through-hole triac for AC power switching

The STMicroelectronics BTA24-600CW is a 25 A RMS, 600 V Snubberless™ Alternistor triac in a TO-220-3 through-hole package.

Gate drive and holding current

Maximum gate trigger current is 35 mA, with a maximum gate trigger voltage of 1.3 V. The 50 mA maximum holding current ensures the triac stays latched once triggered, even with lightly inductive loads that might otherwise drop the current below the holding threshold during the AC zero-cross.

Surge capability and temperature range

Non-repetitive surge current rating is 250 A at 50 Hz and 260 A at 60 Hz, giving the device headroom for inrush from motor starts or lamp filaments.
