What this Alternistor does — and what it saves you
The ST BTA06-600BWRG is a Snubberless™ Alternistor triac rated for 600 V off-state and 6 A RMS on-state current in a TO-220 through-hole package. The Snubberless construction means the internal die is designed to commutate inductive loads without an external RC snubber network — you can drop the snubber resistors and capacitors from the BOM for motor drives, heater controls, and solid-state relay outputs up to 6 A. Triggering at a maximum 50 mA gate current and 1.3 V gate voltage keeps the drive compatible with standard logic-level transistors or an MCU GPIO with a series resistor. The single-triac configuration in a TO-220 means one mounting screw and a standard heatsink pad — no extra isolation hardware beyond the usual mica washer and bushings.
