Switching speed and recovery — the 5 ns edge
The 5 ns reverse recovery time (trr) is the headline spec for this part. In a boost converter or a gate-drive bootstrap circuit, that fast recovery means the diode stops conducting almost as soon as the voltage reverses, minimising the reverse-recovery charge that would otherwise spike the switching losses. For a 300 mA Schottky, 5 ns is tight — it keeps the efficiency curve clean up into the low-MHz switching range. At 100 mA forward current the forward voltage drop maxes at 900 mV — higher than a power Schottky, but expected for a small-signal part where the trade-off is speed over conduction loss. The 1 µA reverse leakage at 30 V is low enough that it won't upset a high-impedance sense node or a battery-powered rail.
SOT-23-3 is one of the most rework-friendly small-signal packages. Three pads, wide 0.95 mm pitch, no thermal pad underneath — a standard hot-air station at 300 °C will lift the part clean in under 10 seconds without cooking the board.
That means no last-time-buy pressure, no scramble for surplus stock.
