Transient suppressor for 213 V rails
The STMicroelectronics 1.5KE250CA is a bidirectional TRANSIL™ TVS diode from the 1.5KE series, designed to clamp voltage transients on DC power and signal lines with a 213 V reverse standoff rating. The single bidirectional channel handles both positive and negative overvoltage events, simplifying protection on AC-coupled or bipolar rails. This through-hole axial device in a DO-201AA / DO-27 package suits general-purpose industrial, telecom, and power-supply applications where board space allows leaded components.
For a 213 V nominal rail, this clamp leaves roughly 2× headroom above the operating voltage, typical for MOV or TVS-protected industrial inputs. The 1500 W peak pulse capability (10/1000 µs) covers moderate-energy transients like inductive kickback or lightning-induced surges on outdoor cabling. No power line protection is claimed, so this part is intended for secondary-side or signal-line clamping, not AC mains entrance protection.
Package and mounting for the DO-201 build
The DO-201AA / DO-27 axial leaded package requires through-hole mounting with lead forming for PCB or terminal strip insertion. The 280 pF typical capacitance at 1 MHz is a consideration on high-speed data lines — at 213 V standoff, this capacitance is acceptable for 50/60 Hz power or low-frequency signal protection but may load a fast communication bus. No heatsink is required for single-pulse transient duty; the axial body dissipates the pulse energy thermally into the leads and board copper.
For BOM planning, this removes last-time-buy risk on the line item.
