150 Mbps capacitive isolator with 5/1 channel split
The Skyworks SI8661BB-B-IU is a 6-channel general-purpose digital isolator using capacitive coupling technology, rated for 150 Mbps data rate and 2500 Vrms isolation voltage. The channel configuration is 5 inputs on side 1 and 1 input on side 2, all unidirectional — a layout suited for isolating a wide data bus with a single feedback or enable signal crossing the barrier in the opposite direction. Propagation delay is 13 ns max (tpLH / tpHL), with a pulse-width distortion of 4.5 ns max and rise/fall times of 4 ns typical. These timing specs mean the part can carry a 150 Mbps serial stream with minimal skew between channels — important for parallel data buses where lane-to-lane timing margin is tight. Common-mode transient immunity is 50 kV/µs minimum. In a motor-drive or inverter application where the ground plane jumps several hundred volts in a few nanoseconds, that CMTI rating keeps the output from glitching — the isolator holds its state through the transient.
No separate VDDIO or level-shifting is needed as long as both sides stay within that window. The 125°C upper limit is the junction temperature — the package thermal resistance (not stated here) will derate the maximum ambient in a high-power system, but for a low-power isolator drawing a few milliamps, the full 125°C ambient is usable. Packaged in a 16-SSOP (3.90 mm width) with the supplier device package designated 16-QSOP.
ROHS3 compliant, with no restricted substances above the threshold limits. The part ships in tube packaging — for reel or cut-tape quantities, the sibling order code SI8661BB-B-IS1R uses the same die and package but in tape-and-reel format.
