5-channel isolation at 150 Mbps — the timing budget for your signal chain
The SI8650BD-B-IS is a 5-channel, unidirectional digital isolator from Skyworks Solutions, built on capacitive coupling technology. All five inputs are on Side 1 (5/0 channel direction), so this variant is suited for applications where the isolated side only needs to receive — reading back sensor data or receiving control signals from a microcontroller domain.
Isolation voltage and CMTI — fit for motor drives and industrial backplanes
Rated for 5000 Vrms isolation with a minimum common-mode transient immunity of 35 kV/µs, the SI8650BD-B-IS can sit between a noisy inverter stage and a sensitive controller without losing data integrity. The 35 kV/µs CMTI means the output does not glitch when a fast-switching SiC or IGBT stage couples a high dv/dt across the isolation barrier — a common failure point in motor-drive and UPS designs.
Temperature grade and supply — industrial range, no isolated power needed
The part does not include an integrated isolated DC-DC converter; the secondary side requires its own clean supply rail. Rise and fall times are typ 2.5 ns — fast enough for 150 Mbps signaling but sharp enough that PCB layout must keep trace lengths short and controlled-impedance above 50 MHz to avoid ringing.
