5000Vrms isolation with 35kV/µs transient immunity
The Skyworks SI8622BD-B-IS is a 2-channel, unidirectional digital isolator built on capacitive coupling technology, delivering 5000Vrms of galvanic isolation in a 16-SOIC wide-body package. That 35kV/µs common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) rating means it holds the data link clean across a high-side gate driver or motor-drive phase leg where the ground plane jumps several hundred volts in nanoseconds — the kind of event that latches up an optocoupler's LED side. Each channel runs unidirectional at up to 150Mbps with a 13ns max propagation delay and 4.5ns pulse-width distortion. For a PWM signal crossing the isolation barrier, that 4.5ns skew between the on-to-off and off-to-on edges sets the minimum pulse width the far side can reproduce without duty-cycle error — below about 30ns the pulse starts to compress.
The -40°C to +125°C range covers the industrial and automotive under-hood envelope — the 125°C ceiling is the junction temperature, not the ambient; in a still-air enclosure at 85°C ambient the self-heating from 2mA per channel keeps the die well below the abs-max. The 16-SOIC wide-body (0.295-inch body width) footprint matches the standard SOIC-16 land pattern. The tube packaging suits bench prototypes and low-volume builds; the tape-and-reel sibling SI8622BD-B-ISR carries the same die and electricals for production reflow.
For designs that can trade isolation voltage for cost, the SI8622EC-B-IS drops to 3750Vrms in the same package and pinout — otherwise the electricals are identical. The SI8622ED-B-IS and SI8622BD-B-ISR are the same 5000Vrms part in tube and tape reels respectively; no functional difference beyond the shipping format.
