Automotive-grade isolation for gate-drive applications
The Skyworks SI8237BB-D-IS1R is a 2-channel digital isolator with integrated gate-drive outputs, qualified to AEC-Q100 Grade 1 for operation from -40°C to 125°C. That temperature range covers under-hood and engine-bay environments where the ambient soaks above 105°C on a summer day — the 125°C ceiling gives margin for self-heating from the 500 mA peak output. In a motor-drive or battery-charger circuit where the switching node slews at tens of kV/µs, that CMTI rating means the isolator does not latch or corrupt the gate signal — a 5.6 ns max pulse-width distortion keeps the switching edges symmetrical.
Parametric fit for a 24 V gate-drive rail
Output supply range of 9.4 V to 24 V covers the common gate-drive rails for Si MOSFETs and IGBTs — a 12 V or 15 V regulated bus works directly. The 500 mA peak output drives the gate charge of a medium-power FET in under 100 ns; the 250 mA source / 500 mA sink split means the turn-off edge is faster than turn-on, which helps control the Miller plateau during hard switching. Propagation delay is 60 ns max typ for both rising and falling edges, with 20 ns rise/fall times into a standard load. That 60 ns window sets the minimum dead-time the controller must insert between high-side and low-side pulses — budget 100 ns in the PWM timer to account for the isolator plus the external gate resistor.

The package supports standard reflow profiles — no special handling beyond MSL level typical for SOIC.
