Dual pre-biased NPN — built-in base resistors cut external BOM
The FMG4AT148 from ROHM packs two NPN transistors with integrated 10 kΩ base resistors (R1) into a single SC-74A (SMT5) package. Each transistor handles up to 100 mA collector current with a 50 V collector-emitter breakdown, suiting it for low-side switching, logic-level translation, and gate-drive pull-downs in industrial and consumer PCBs where board space is tight. The pre-biased design eliminates two external resistors per channel, shrinking the footprint and reducing placement cost.
300 mW dissipation in SC-74A — thermal budget for dense layouts
At 300 mW total power dissipation, the FMG4AT148 is rated for continuous operation in ambient conditions typical of indoor and outdoor telecom or appliance controllers. The SC-74A (SOT-753) footprint measures roughly 2.9 mm × 1.6 mm, so the dual device keeps the per-channel dissipation below 150 mW when both transistors are active. For designs that push near the 100 mA per channel, the derating curve in the datasheet (available on request) should be checked against the maximum ambient temperature.
For dual-sourcing, the UMG4NTR (also a dual NPN pre-biased with 10 kΩ base resistors) offers a functional alternative in a smaller 150 mW package, though the power rating differs.
