The BD6964F-E2: The BD6964F- from ROHM Semiconductor is a fully integrated driver combining control logic and power stage in one 8-SOIC package, purpose-built for brushless DC (BLDC) fan motors. It delivers up to 1A continuous output from a 3.3V to 15V supply rail, with the load voltage matching the supply range. The PWM interface allows the system microcontroller to set fan speed directly — the half-bridge output configuration drives the motor phases without external power transistors. The internal Power MOSFETs handle the commutation, so the BOM stays compact.
1A output and PWM speed control
Rated for 1A continuous output current, the BD6964F- covers the majority of 12V box fans and cooling blowers used in telecom equipment, power supplies, and industrial enclosures. Speed is set via a PWM input — the duty cycle on the PWM pin controls the motor voltage. The integrated half-bridge switches the load at the PWM rate, so the fan sees a chopped waveform rather than a linear voltage drop, keeping efficiency higher across the speed range. The 8-SOIC package (also designated 8-SOP) is a standard footprint for this current class, with the exposed pad carrying the thermal path to the PCB copper.
