5 V rail for analog and mixed-signal loads
The BD50GA5WEFJ-E2: The BD50GA5WEFJ- is a single-output positive LDO from ROHM, fixed at 5 V and rated for 500 mA continuous. The 0.9 V max dropout at full load means the input rail needs to stay above 5.9 V to hold regulation — a 6 V or 7 V supply leaves comfortable headroom. The enable pin lets the system power-cycle the rail without a separate load switch.
Housed in an 8-HTSOP-J (8-SOIC with exposed pad), the thermal pad under the die pulls heat into the board copper. On a rework station, the exposed pad means the part reflows evenly — no hidden paddle that traps flux. Pin 1 is marked on the package body; the enable pin is on pin 2, output on pin 5, input on pin 8. The pad layout matches a standard SOIC-8 footprint with an extra center land.
Protection and operating envelope
Over-current and over-temperature protection are built in, plus a soft-start ramp that limits inrush into capacitive loads. The operating temperature range is -25°C to 85°C — industrial ambient, not extended automotive. Supply current maxes at 900 µA, so the LDO's own draw is negligible in a battery-powered system that sleeps between reads.
