RBicdLite™ — what this conditioner does
The ZSC31015EEG1-R is a RBicdLite™ series resistive sensor signal conditioner from IDT (now Renesas). It digitises and linearises the output of a resistive bridge sensor — pressure, force, strain, or torque — and communicates the result over a ZACwire™ One-Wire Interface, a single-wire digital protocol that needs only one GPIO on the host MCU and simplifies galvanic isolation.
ZACwire one-wire digital output
The ZACwire interface is a proprietary single-wire protocol that carries both data and clock on one pin. For the host MCU this means one GPIO and one timer capture channel, not a full SPI or I2C peripheral. The trade-off is throughput — ZACwire is slower than SPI — but for a bridge sensor sampled at a few hundred hertz it is more than adequate and keeps the isolation barrier simple (one opto or digital isolator channel instead of three or four).
