I²C digital air-quality sensor for indoor IAQ monitoring
The ZMOD4510AI4R is a Renesas OAQ (Outdoor Air Quality) integrated sensor that reports air-quality data over an I²C digital interface — no external ADC or analog conditioning needed on the host PCB. Rated accuracy of ±2% gives the system designer a known measurement tolerance for IAQ algorithms, whether the target is CO₂-equivalent or total VOC estimation. Supply voltage is 1.7 V, which lets the sensor run directly from a 1.8 V rail without a separate LDO, simplifying the power tree in battery-powered or low-voltage designs.
Operating temperature and environment constraints
The -40°C to 65°C range covers indoor HVAC, smart-building, and cold-chain monitoring, but the 65°C ceiling excludes applications like engine-bay air quality or direct-sunlight rooftop enclosures without active cooling. At 11 µA switching current (typical), the sensor's power budget is low enough for always-on sensing in battery-operated thermostats or portable air monitors.
