16-bit RL78/G14 MCU for industrial control and sensor nodes
The Renesas R5F104EFANA#20 is a 16-bit RL78/G14 microcontroller clocked at 32 MHz, with 96 KB of Flash program memory, 12 KB RAM, and an integrated 8 KB EEPROM block for non-volatile data storage. It carries a 9-channel 8/10-bit ADC and a 2-channel 8-bit DAC, reducing the external analog bill of materials for sensor input and analog output loops. Serial connectivity covers CSI, I²C, LINbus, and UART/USART — enough for industrial fieldbus bridges, motor drive comms, or LIN subnets in automotive body electronics. The operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C and a supply voltage span from 1.6 V to 5.5 V let it run on a single rail in unconditioned enclosures, factory floors, or outdoor telecom cabinets. The 40-HWQFN (6x6 mm) package with 28 I/O fits tight PCB layouts.
On-chip analog and serial interfaces
The 9-channel ADC (8- or 10-bit resolution) handles multiple analog sensor inputs — thermocouples, pressure transducers, current shunts — while the 2-channel DAC provides analog setpoints or signal conditioning outputs. The serial interface set (CSI, I²C, LINbus, UART/USART) covers the common protocols for industrial sensors, motor drives, and LIN-based automotive body modules. DMA, LVD, POR, PWM, and WDT peripherals are on board, reducing the need for external supervisor or timing ICs.
Lifecycle and sourcing posture
R5F104EFANA#20 carries an Active product status with ROHS3 compliance.
