3750Vrms reinforced isolation in a 5-pin SOIC
The Renesas NEPOC PS9117A-F3-AX is a single-channel digital optocoupler with an open-collector output, rated for 3750Vrms isolation and a 10Mbps data rate. The 5-SO package (0.173" body width, 4.40mm height) saves board area compared to DIP-8 optocouplers while still providing basic reinforced isolation for feedback loops in AC-DC power supplies, motor-drive IGBT gate drive interfaces, and PLC digital input modules.
Open-collector output: pull-up resistor required
The open-collector output means the buyer must add an external pull-up resistor to the supply rail. The typical rise time is 20ns and fall time is 5ns, so the pull-up value sets the RC time constant for the rising edge. For a 10Mbps signal, keep the pull-up in the 330Ω to 1kΩ range depending on the load capacitance.
15kV/µs CMTI — adequate for most industrial drives
The minimum common-mode transient immunity is 15kV/µs. This is sufficient for 600V IGBT inverters switching at moderate speeds (up to about 8-10 kV/µs dV/dt). For SiC or GaN stages that produce 50-100 kV/µs edges, the 100kV/µs CMTI on the RV1S9161 peer would be the safer choice. The 75ns max propagation delay is symmetrical (tpLH = tpHL = 75ns), which simplifies timing budget calculations in the control loop.
