The Renesas PS9031-Y-AX is an optically coupled isolated gate driver rated for 5000Vrms isolation in a 5-LSOP surface-mount package. It delivers 2.5A peak output current with 2A source and 2A sink capability — enough to drive the gate charge of medium-power IGBTs and SiC MOSFETs in motor drives, solar inverters, and industrial power supplies. Rise and fall times are 40ns typical, and propagation delay is 175ns max, giving the designer a predictable timing budget for dead-time management in half-bridge topologies.
CMTI and temperature — where it works
Common-mode transient immunity is 50kV/µs minimum. Approvals from CSA, UL, and VDE simplify regulatory compliance.
Supply rail and input drive
The output supply range is 15V to 30V, which matches common gate-drive rails for IGBTs and MOSFETs. Input side is driven by an LED with a typical forward voltage of 1.56V and a maximum forward current of 25 mA — the same drive as standard logic-level optocouplers, so it interfaces directly with a PWM controller or MCU GPIO without extra level shifting.
