CTR range and design margin
The CTR of 15% to 45% at 16mA forward current is the key parameter for ensuring reliable logic-level transfer across the isolation barrier. A minimum CTR of 15% means the designer must size the LED drive current and pull-up resistor to guarantee the output transistor saturates under worst-case conditions. The 45% maximum gives headroom for aging and temperature drift.
