Charger IC for 2-4 series Li-Ion packs
The ISL88739BHRZ is a single-chip Li-Ion/Polymer battery charger controller supporting 2 to 4 series cells. It integrates the charge control loop, digital interface, and fault protection into a 32-QFN (4x4 mm) package. The 22V maximum supply voltage covers the full input range for a 2- to 4-cell stack — a 4-cell pack charges at a nominal 16.8V termination, leaving headroom for the input adapter and regulation overhead.
I²C / SMBus digital control and monitoring
Charge parameters — current, voltage, termination threshold, and timer — are set through the I²C or SMBus interface, eliminating external resistor dividers and allowing dynamic adjustment during the charge cycle. The bus also reports fault flags and charge status, which a system MCU can read to log charge events or trigger a safety shutdown on an over-current condition.
32-QFN exposed-pad thermal management
A 2x2 array of vias under the pad to an inner ground plane is recommended for thermal spreading. The surface-mount package suits automated assembly lines; the Tube shipping format is typical for prototype and low-volume builds, though reel packaging may be available through distribution.
