CMOS 555 timer in an 8-DIP socket
The ICM7555IPAZ is a single CMOS 555-type timer/oscillator from Renesas, rated for 1 MHz maximum oscillation and drawing just 60 µA supply current at 2 V. That supply current is the headline difference from a standard bipolar 555 — on a battery-powered board or a thermally tight enclosure, the CMOS version keeps the heat and the drain low while dropping into the same 8-pin DIP footprint.
The part operates from 2 V to 18 V, covering 3.3 V, 5 V, 12 V, and 15 V rails without an external regulator. The -25°C to 85°C temperature range suits industrial control panels, outdoor telecom cabinets, and factory-floor sensor interfaces — the same environments where a failed bipolar 555 often scorches the board.
