8 Mbit SPI DataFlash — BOM-fit note
The AT45DB081E-MHN-T is a 8 Mbit serial DataFlash from Renesas, organized as 264 bytes per page across 4096 pages. SPI interface at 85 MHz clock — the quad-I/O read can saturate a 100 MHz bus without wait states.
Layout needs a solid ground pour under the package to keep RthJA under 60°C/W.
Write-cycle timing and page architecture
Page program time is 4 ms typical, byte write 8 µs — the page buffer lets you load up to 264 bytes before committing, which matches a 256-byte sector write without partial-page overhead. The 264-byte page (not 256) means the last 8 bytes can be used for metadata or ECC — a firmware engineer should account for the non-standard page size in the flash driver.
