TVS clamping and standoff ratings
The 1.5SMC8.2A_R1_00001: The 12.1 V maximum clamping voltage at 124 A peak pulse current tells you the let-through ceiling the downstream load actually sees during a transient event, which is the selection number for downstream rail withstand, not the breakdown voltage alone. The 7.02 V reverse standoff is the working voltage below which the TVS stays off and draws only leakage; the 7.79 V minimum breakdown is where it snaps into conduction and clamps the spike. Junction temperature rated to 150 °C — the wide span from -55 °C up to 150 °C puts this squarely in the automotive and industrial ambient bracket rather than commercial equipment. The minimum breakdown of 7.79 V and the unidirectional single-channel topology mean it protects one polarity only, so it sits on the positive rail side of a supply bus or on a signal line referenced to ground.
SMC package and pick-and-place profile
DO-214AB (SMC) is the most widely second-sourced TVS package in the industry — the large cathodic tab pads and gull-wing leads suit standard reflow profiles without special thermal profiling. The Tape & Reel option maps directly onto high-speed SMT line feeders; the CT cut-tape variant works for low-volume hand assembly or prototype builds. Land pattern is consistent across the 1.5SMC series footprint, so swapping within the series for a different standoff voltage does not require a layout spin.
