Clamping voltage and pulse current
The 1.5SMC56A-AU_R2_000A1: With a 77V maximum clamping voltage at 19.5A peak pulse current, this TVS holds a 48V nominal rail well below the typical 100V abs-max of downstream DC-DC converters. The 47.8V standoff means it does not conduct at the normal 48V operating level, only during transients. For a 48V automotive load-dump event (ISO 7637-2 pulse 5a), the energy absorption margin is determined by the pulse duration and ambient temperature.
The SMC footprint is standard for 1500W-class TVS diodes and shares land pattern with Littelfuse and Vishay equivalents. Cut Tape works for prototype or low-volume builds.
