Dual Darlington opto — high gain, low input drive
The MOCD223R2M packs two Darlington-output optocouplers in a single 8-SOIC package, each channel delivering 150 mA continuous at up to 30 V with a minimum current transfer ratio of 500 % at just 1 mA forward current.
Package and reflow — SOIC-8, MSL check before bake
onsemi lists the part as ROHS3 compliant, so no exemption paperwork for your BOM; check the moisture-sensitivity level on the reel label before reflow — most SOIC optos are MSL 1 or 3, but if it's MSL 3 and the bag seal is broken, a 24-hour bake at 125 °C is the safe call to avoid popcorning.
Switching speed — 8 µs rise, 110 µs fall
Rise time is 8 µs typical, fall time 110 µs typical — the Darlington output stage trades speed for gain, so this part is suited for DC-level switching (relay, lamp, solenoid, logic input) rather than high-frequency PWM or serial data isolation. Turn-on time is 10 µs, turn-off 125 µs — plan your timing budget accordingly if driving a fast-acting load.
Temperature range and isolation
Isolation voltage is 2500 Vrms — sufficient for basic insulation in 240 VAC equipment per IEC 60950-1 reinforced isolation requirements when used with proper creepage on the PCB.
