Dual-channel isolation in a narrow SOIC-8 footprint
The MOCD217R2M packs two independent phototransistor output channels in a single 8-SOIC package, saving board space compared to two single-channel optos. Each channel provides 2500Vrms galvanic isolation between the DC input LED and the transistor output side. Minimum current transfer ratio of 100% at just 1 mA forward current means the LED can be driven from a low-power logic output or a 3.3V GPIO without an external transistor buffer — useful in PLC digital input modules and industrial sensor interfaces.
Switching speed and saturation margin for logic-level loads
Typical rise and fall times of 3.2 µs and 4.7 µs, with turn-on and turn-off times of 7.5 µs and 5.7 µs, place this part in the medium-speed class — adequate for 10–100 kHz signal isolation in motor drive feedback or relay coil monitoring. Vce(sat) max of 400 mV at the rated output current keeps the voltage drop across the phototransistor low, so the output can directly feed a 5V CMOS or TTL input without a pull-up resistor adjustment.
