Dual-channel transistor optocoupler with 2500 Vrms isolation
The onsemi MOCD207M is a dual-channel optoisolator with a DC-input LED and a phototransistor output, housed in an 8-SOIC surface-mount package. With two independent channels in one 8-SOIC package, the MOCD207M saves board space compared to using two single-channel optocouplers, while maintaining a 150 mA continuous output current per channel and a maximum collector-emitter voltage of 70 V.
Current transfer ratio and switching performance
The current transfer ratio (CTR) is specified at 100% to 200% when the forward LED current is 10 mA. This means the phototransistor can sink at least as much collector current as the LED drive current, providing good gain margin for logic-level interfaces without needing a high-drive LED current. Switching is moderate: typical rise and fall times are 3.2 µs and 4.7 µs, with turn-on and turn-off times of 7.5 µs and 5.7 µs respectively. This suits data rates up to about 100 kbps — adequate for PLC input modules, relay drivers, and isolated serial links.
Temperature range and saturation voltage
The MOCD207M operates from -40°C to +100°C, covering industrial temperature requirements for factory-floor electronics and outdoor telecom equipment. The maximum Vce saturation of 400 mV at the rated output current ensures low power dissipation in the output transistor when fully on.
