The onsemi MOC8106SM is a single-channel optoisolator with a DC-input LED and a phototransistor output, housed in a 6-SMD gull-wing package. The current transfer ratio (CTR) is specified at 50% minimum and 150% maximum when the LED is driven at 10mA forward current — this range gives the designer a known gain window for the logic-level translation, so the pull-up resistor on the output side can be sized to guarantee a logic low across temperature and device variation. Output rating is 70V collector-emitter maximum with a 50mA continuous current per channel, and the Vce saturation is clamped at 400mV — low enough to keep the output swing close to ground when driving a logic input or a low-side relay coil. The 6-SMD gull-wing package (supplier device package 6-SMD) has leads that extend laterally from the body, making it one of the more technician-friendly SMD optoisolators to hand-rework. The gull-wing profile lets you wick solder from each pad individually under a hot-air station without lifting the pad — the lead stands off the board, so flux and solder flow visibly. The tube packaging means parts arrive with leads protected from bending; no tape-and-reel handling issues for low-volume builds. The 100°C ceiling is the junction limit — derate the output current if the ambient near the opto runs above 85°C.
