The onsemi MOC3081SR2M is an active-production optoisolator (Triac output) with a zero-crossing circuit, rated for 4170 Vrms isolation and 800 V off-state voltage. It drives AC loads such as solenoids, relays, and small motors from a low-voltage control side while maintaining a reinforced isolation barrier for mains-referenced circuits. UL recognized and ROHS3 compliant, this part meets North American safety requirements and European substance restrictions without additional exemptions.
Zero-crossing drive and dV/dt immunity
The zero-crossing circuit triggers the Triac only when the AC line voltage is near zero, reducing inrush current and conducted EMI when switching resistive or lightly inductive loads. A minimum static dV/dt of 600 V/µs ensures the output remains off when exposed to fast voltage transients on the AC line — critical for avoiding false turn-on in noisy industrial environments. The typical holding current (Ih) is 500 µA, and the maximum LED trigger current (Ift) is 15 mA, allowing direct drive from a 5 V logic output with a series resistor.
