Zero-crossing triac output for AC load switching
The MOC3062SR2VM integrates a zero-crossing detection circuit, meaning the internal triac triggers only near the AC mains voltage zero crossing. This reduces radiated EMI and limits inrush current when switching resistive or lightly inductive loads like heaters, solenoids, or lamp ballasts. Rated off-state voltage is 600 V, sufficient for 240 VAC line switching with margin. The minimum static dV/dt of 600 V/µs prevents false turn-on from fast transients—common in motor-drive or relay-coil environments where contact arcing or back-EMF couples into the triac.
Isolation and temperature range for industrial control
Galvanic isolation is rated at 4170 Vrms, meeting IEC/EN/DIN and UL safety standards. This allows the low-voltage MCU or PLC output to drive the LED side while the triac side connects directly to mains—no additional isolation barrier needed. The -40°C to 85°C operating range covers most factory-floor, HVAC, and outdoor enclosure conditions. The 6-SMD Gull Wing package is a surface-mount footprint compatible with standard reflow soldering; the gull-wing leads provide visual solder-joint inspection access.
