Zero-crossing Triac output with 600V off-state
The onsemi MOC3061SR2VM is a 1-channel optoisolator with a Triac output and a built-in zero-crossing circuit, rated for 600 V off-state and 4170 Vrms isolation. The zero-crossing circuit means the Triac only triggers near the AC mains zero voltage — this reduces inrush current and EMI when switching resistive or lightly inductive loads like heaters, lamps, or solenoid valves. A minimum static dV/dt of 600 V/µs ensures the output does not falsely trigger from fast voltage transients on the line — common in motor-drive or relay-coil switching environments.
Housed in a 6-SMD Gull Wing package (6-SMD supplier device package), it mounts flat on the PCB surface — the Gull Wing leads provide visual solder-joint inspection and good thermal cycling performance.
Drive current and trigger thresholds
Forward voltage (Vf) is 1.3 V typical at the LED, and the maximum continuous forward current is 60 mA — well within the drive capability of most microcontroller I/O pins or a simple transistor buffer. Hold current (Ih) is 500 µA typical, meaning the Triac stays latched once triggered until the load current drops below this level — near the AC zero crossing, the Triac naturally commutates off.
