Triac driver for 240/480 VAC load control
The MOC3052TVM is an onsemi optoisolator with a triac output rated for 600 V off-state voltage and 4170 Vrms isolation, packaged in a 6-DIP through-hole body. It drives medium-voltage AC loads — think 240 VAC or 480 VAC solenoids, fans, or heaters — directly from a logic-level LED input. Because it lacks a zero-cross circuit, the output triac can fire at any phase angle, which makes this part suitable for phase-angle dimming or soft-start applications where you need to control power delivery across the full AC cycle.
Parametric fit for industrial switching
The minimum static dV/dt of 1 kV/µs gives the triac immunity to fast voltage transients — a real concern when switching inductive loads or operating on a noisy mains line. The typical hold current of 220 µA sets the minimum load current needed to keep the triac latched; below that, the output may drop out at the next zero crossing. The forward current is rated up to 60 mA, so there is margin for high-temperature derating.
