Product details

Triac output optoisolator for AC load switching

The onsemi MOC3022TVM is a single-channel optoisolator with a Triac output, delivering 4170 Vrms galvanic isolation between the low-voltage control side and the AC mains side. Its 400 V off-state voltage rating lets it directly trigger a power triac on a 240 VAC line, with no zero-crossing circuit — meaning random-phase firing is available for phase-angle control applications like dimmers or soft-starters. The LED trigger current is 10 mA max, so a standard 5 V logic output or microcontroller GPIO can drive it through a simple series resistor. The 1.15 V typical forward voltage keeps the LED power dissipation low in continuous-on applications.

Package and board-fit: 6-DIP through hole

Housed in a 6-DIP (0.400", 10.16 mm) through-hole package, the MOC3022TVM mounts directly into a standard DIP socket or solders into plated through-holes on a PCB. The 6-DIP footprint matches the legacy MOC30xx series, so it drops into boards originally laid out for the MOC3073M or MOC3011SM without rewiring — the pinout is identical. The tube packaging is suitable for pick-and-place assembly in through-hole lines or manual insertion for low-volume builds. No special handling beyond standard ESD precautions is needed.

Active production and compliance documentation

The part is ROHS3 compliant, meeting EU Directive 2011/65/EU, and carries UL recognition as well as IEC/EN/DIN approvals for industrial isolation barrier requirements. The 100 µA typical hold current keeps the Triac latched once triggered, preventing premature drop-out on inductive loads.
