Isolation barrier and signal drive
The MOC213R2M provides 2500Vrms galvanic isolation between a DC input LED and a phototransistor output with a base terminal — this is the basic isolation class for signal separation in industrial control, PLC digital inputs, and motor drive feedback paths where the control side must float from the power stage.
Switching speed and output drive
Typical rise and fall times of 3.2 µs and 4.7 µs, with turn-on/turn-off times of 7.5 µs and 5.7 µs, place this optoisolator in the medium-speed class — suited for 24 VDC logic-level translation, relay coil driving, and AC mains zero-cross detection at line frequencies, but not for high-speed serial buses. The output can sink up to 150 mA continuous at a maximum collector-emitter voltage of 30 V, with a Vce saturation of 400 mV — enough to drive a small relay, a DC SSR input, or a PLC input module directly without an external buffer transistor.
Lifecycle and compliance
Fully ROHS3 compliant, with no restricted substances above the threshold limits; the part carries no halogenated flame retardants and meets the current EU RoHS directive for electronic equipment placed on the market.
