Single-channel 2500Vrms optoisolator in 8-SOIC
The MOC211VM from onsemi is a single-channel optoisolator with a DC input and a transistor-with-base output, rated for 2500Vrms isolation. The 8-SOIC package (0.154-inch width) is a common footprint for surface-mount assembly — hand-solderable with a fine tip, and reflow-friendly for low-volume runs.
Parametric fit for signal isolation
The transistor output with base access gives you flexibility: you can bias the base for faster switching or use it in a common-emitter configuration. Minimum CTR is 20% at 10 mA forward current, which means at 10 mA LED drive you get at least 2 mA collector current — enough to drive a logic input or a small relay. The 150 mA continuous output current and 30 V output rating cover most low-side switching and level-shifting tasks. Rise/fall times of 3.2 µs and 4.7 µs keep switching losses low for signals up to a few tens of kilohertz.
Active lifecycle and sourcing posture
That means you can place the MOC211VM on your BOM without a short-term obsolescence watch.
