Isolation and drive for PLC digital inputs
The MCT5211SR2M: Rated for 4170 Vrms isolation, it safely separates a 24 V PLC input stage from the field-side sensor or switch — enough margin for industrial control panels where transient immunity matters. Typical turn-on time of 14 µs and turn-off of 2.5 µs place it in the right range for 24 VDC PLC input modules with hardware debounce — the output settles well within a typical 3 ms filter window.
Output headroom and package rework
The output transistor handles up to 150 mA continuous and saturates at 400 mV max — enough to drive a small relay or a logic-level input without a secondary transistor stage. The 6-SMD Gull Wing package has exposed leads that are easy to inspect and touch up under a hot-air station. The 1.25 V typical forward drop means the LED side runs cool at 1.6 mA, so the part doesn't cook itself during rework. Operating from -40°C to 100°C covers most indoor and outdoor control cabinet environments — no need for a wider temp grade unless the board sits next to a motor drive heatsink.
