Dual-channel isolation for digital signal paths
The onsemi HCPL2531M is a dual-channel transistor-output optocoupler in a through-hole 8-DIP package, providing 5000Vrms galvanic isolation between a DC-input LED and a phototransistor output per channel. Typical turn-on and turn-off times of 250ns and 260ns respectively mean the part handles data rates up to several MHz, suitable for isolating digital comms lines, PLC digital inputs, or motor-drive feedback paths.
5000Vrms isolation is the reinforced-grade barrier for industrial equipment — it withstands 5 kVAC for one minute between input and output, covering IEC 60950-1 and UL 1577 requirements for safety isolation in motor drives, power supplies, and medical peripherals.
Supplied in tubes — the 8-DIP (0.300", 7.62mm) footprint mates with standard 0.100-inch pitch DIP sockets or wave-solder pads on a two-layer PCB.
